Mrs. Smigielski and her fifth-grade class showed up this week with a marvelous surprise.
The project was called Trick or Treat So Others Can Eat. The students learned how to use persuasive writing skills to inform the community about homelessness and ways they can help solve the issue. Each student wrote and designed their own flyer, stapled it to a Meijer grocery bag, and then either took it to someone in their own neighborhood or a family member to be filled. Students returned with the bags on Halloween and then donated the items to KBMSK.
It reminds me of the song…
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day, so let’s start giving
There’s a choice we’re making
We’re saving our own lives
It’s true we’ll make a better day, just you and me!!
Thank you students!!
